Quality Contracts: Contracts between health insurers and hospitals, aimed at improving the quality of care.

Binding standards for successful collaboration

  • Conclusion of contracts according to §110a SGB V between SHI funds and hospitals possible since 01.08.2018.
  • Term initially until 2028 at the most, then evaluation by IQTIG as to whether the instrument is to be discontinued.
  • Contracts can be freely designed, e.g. contain monetary incentives.
  • Obligation of SHI: Determination of a minimum amount of € 30 per year per insured person.
  • In some cases, the SHI funds already cooperate closely on quality contracts.
  • Legal possibility for private health insurers to join via combined contract concepts according to § 110a and § 140a SGB V.
